Davies joins list of young stars

Taylah Davies has announced herself as a New South Wales rising star by being presented the 2013 Marj Groves AM Scholarship at the annual State Dinner over the weekend.

The 19 year-old joins past winners such as NSW Swifts Paige Hadley (2011) and April Letton (2007).

Davies has enjoyed a consistent 2013 season; she was an integral member of the Sutherland Shire side who finished 2013 DOOLEYS State League Waratah Cup Runners-Up, helped guide NSW to third place at the 21/U National Netball Championships, as well as making her Australian Netball League debut with Runners-Up, the Netball NSW Waratahs.

Speaking to NetballNSWTV after being announced the 2013 recipient, Davies said it was such an honour to receive the prestigious award and has learnt a lot throughout the year.

“This year I’ve been opened up to a lot more [to playing with the] older girls, so I’ve learned a lot from them and the coaches … Just having a lot of fun is the main thing as well,” Davies said.

“I can’t wait for 2014 … [I hope to be selected] in the 21U State Team again, just train as hard as I can, have fun and look forward to what else there is to come.”
