After a ferocious night of DOOLEYS Metro League, Preliminary Finals action both Eastwood Ryde and Hills District have secured places in their respective 2017 Grand Finals.
In Division 1 Eastwood Ryde setup a face off with ladder leaders Hunter United in next week’s showpiece at the Genea Netball Centre, while in Division 2 Hills District won to secure to place in the Grand Final against Randwick.

PRELIMINARY FINAL: Baulkham Hills Shire 43 def by 54 Eastwood/Ryde
Eastwood Ryde booked the much-coveted place in the Division One Grand Final after defeating Baulkham Hills Shire 54-43 at the Genea Netball Centre on Thursday 7 September.
The first quarter flew by goal for goal until Baulkham hills GS Casey Green scored the first consecutive goals of the game. Eastwood Ryde not to be outdone retaliated with consecutive goals of their own and then some to finish the first quarter in front 13-12.
The second was quarter fast and furious with both teams defence working overtime to minimise scoring opportunities. Baulkham hills held off Eastwood Ryde until the final moments succumbing to allow three consecutive goals in the final moments. Eastwood Ryde went into the half time break with the biggest lead of the game so far 25-22.
Baulkham Hills wasn’t going to let Eastwood Ryde have an easy pass to the Grand Final matching goal for goal throughout the tightly fought quarter with the margin only increasing by one goal at the final break, Baulkham Hills trailing 35-31.
Eastwood Ryde came out firing in the final quarter overwhelming Baulkham Hills defence to cement their lead 54-43 by the time the final buzzer sounded.
Eastwood Ryde will now face off against Hunter United in the much anticipated Dooleys Metro League Division One Grand Final next Thursday 14 September at the Genea Netball Centre.

PRELIMINARY FINAL: Hills District 57 def 48 Blue Mountains
Minor Premiership winners the Hills District secured their place in the 2017 Division Two Grand Final after a Preliminary Final win over tough competitors, Blue Mountains 57 – 48.
The first quarter saw Hills take a small two-point lead after Blue Mountains scored three consecutive goals going into the first break 15-13.
No changes were made to the teams for the second quarter, both sides content with their line ups. Hills came out firing to score the first goal of the quarter increasing their two point lead to six points by half time break 28-22.
Blue Mountains came out chasing in the third quarter determined to give Hills a real contest, scoring at an impressive 85% accuracy in comparison to the Hills 68% accuracy. Hills, even with the lower shooting accuracy was able to provide more shooting opportunities to finish the third quarter up, 43-34.
It was now the Hills game to lose, and lose they didn’t holding their 9 point lead throughout the final quarter to successfully book a spot in the 2017 Dooleys Metro League Grand Final next Thursday 14 September. Hills will play off against Randwick to decide who will be the 2017 Division 2 Champions.
