It’s DOOLEYS State League Grand Final week!

Anticipation surrounds Netball Central as this week the community gets set to crown the remaining 2015 DOOLEYS State League Champions.

After City of Sydney/Sydney Uni claimed their maiden Waratah Cup title earlier this year, Divisions 2-8 will hit the court to decide who will claim the Champions title for this season – starting with Divisions 5 and 6 tonight from 7:00pm.

DOOLEYS State League offers the State’s most talented players, coaches, umpires and officials tight contests and development opportunities week-in, week-out.

So why not come out to Netball Central and cheer on your favourite teams to victory this week? Tickets are $5 for Adults, $4 for Children/Concessions with kids under 4 years old free.

To get you excited for the week ahead, here’s a quick Division-by-Division preview of the 2015 DOOLEYS State League Division 2-8 Grand Finals;

DIVISION 2: Sutherland Shire v Northern Suburbs
Wednesday 22 July, 7:00pm – Show Court
Minor Premiers Sutherland Shire will once again take the court against Northern Suburbs after the latter posted a hard-fought nine-goal victory over Eastwood Ryde during last week’s Preliminary Final.

The decider is an exciting prospect for fans after the two sides put on a thrilling display in the Major Semi Final, with Sutherland triumphing in the dying seconds to claim a one-goal victory.  Goal percentage was all that separated the two at the conclusion of the regular rounds, and it showed with Sutherland and Northern Suburbs going toe-to-toe throughout the 60 minutes.

Northern Suburbs hit the lead with under two minutes remaining, setting up a thrilling conclusion to the Semi Final.  With the sides trading goals, Sutherland converted the winning goal with two seconds to spare to avoid Extra Time and send them directly to the Grand Final.

DIVISION 3: Eastwood Ryde v Hills District
Thursday 23 July, 8:30pm – Show Court
Hills District have survived two sudden-death Finals to feature in this year’s decider where they will meet Minor Premiers Eastwood Ryde.

After finishing the regular season in fourth place, Hills District overcame Sutherland Shire (Semi Final) and St George (Preliminary Final) to have a shot at the Champions title; however Eastwood Ryde stand in their way, and will likely be favourites when the two take the court having dropped just two games this season.

However Hills District have hit form at the right time of the season, weathering some tough contests in the finals, to look calm and composed on their path to the Grand Final. What will Thursday bring? Join us at Netball Central to find out!

DIVISION 4: Blue Mountains v Campbelltown
Thursday 23 July, 7:00pm – Show Court
Campbelltown have also survived two sudden-death Finals to meet Minor Premiers Blue Mountains in the 2015 Grand Final.  After posting a confidence-boosting 14-goal victory over Illawarra in the Semi Final, Campbelltown overcame a resilient City of Sydney/Sydney Uni to secure their place in the title-decider.

After earning a week off following a 16-goal win in the Major Semi Final, Blue Mountains will be refreshed and ready to stake their claim for the 2015 Champions title having won all but two games so far this season – including both contests against their Grand Final opposition.

However Campbelltown have continued to build throughout the season, which is evident when reviewing their results against Blue Mountains; after going down by 25 goals in Round 6, Campbelltown got to within five when they met again in the final regular round.

DIVISION 5: Eastwood Ryde v Bankstown City
Monday 20 July, 8:30pm – Show Court
After finishing first and second at the end of the regular season, Minor Premiers Eastwood Ryde will once again meet Bankstown City after earning a week off with an eight-goal victory in the Major Semi Final.

Eastwood have maintained an undefeated season so far, with a draw the only mark on a near-perfect record. Ironically, that draw was against Bankstown City in Round 7 showing their Grand Final opposition knows what it takes to match up against the Minor Premiers.

The two put on a thrilling Semi Final contest which sets up an exciting re-match tonight. After Eastwood flew out of the starting blocks Bankstown City worked hard to stay in touch and threaten Eastwood’s advantage late in the game. No doubt tonight fans will be treated to another exciting contest from these two great rivals.

DIVISION 6: Newcastle v Kurri Kurri/Hunter Flyers
Monday 20 July, 7:00pm – Show Court
Nothing can add a little more spice to a Grand Final than pitting two neighbouring rivals against each other, which is what is in store when Minor Premiers Newcastle take the court against Kurri Kurri/Hunter Flyers tonight.

The two will meet again after Newcastle finished 63-41 victors in the Major Semi Final to advance directly to the title decider; whilst Kurri Kurri were forced into a sudden-death Preliminary Final against Blacktown City.

Newcastle takes a perfect 19-game winning record into the Grand Final, cementing their favourites tag; however Kurri Kurri have shown throughout the season their guts and determination, and as they say… anything can happen in a Grand Final!

DIVISION 7: Central Coast v Bankstown City
Tuesday 21 July, 8:30pm – Show Court
Another side to arrive at the Grand Final undefeated is Central Coast, who will meet Bankstown City in the 2015 decider tomorrow night.

Central Coast put on a dominant display in the Major Semi Final, overcoming Inner Western Suburbs by 36 goals to earn the week off and advance directly to the title decider; however Bankstown City come into the Final with form having survived two sudden-death contests against Baulkham Hills (Semi Final) and Inner Western Suburbs (Preliminary Final) to feature in the final match of the season.

Bankstown City have also showed they’re a strong attacking side after regularly posting single-game tallies of 50-plus goals during the regular season.

DIVISION 8: Hawkesbury City v Hills District
Tuesday 21 July, 7:00pm – Show Court
Hawkesbury City stunned everyone by coming from behind to defeat Minor Premiers Kurri Kurri/Hunter Flyers by two goals in the Major Semi Final, securing their place in the Grand Final in the process.

They will meet Hills District who also played out a thrilling sudden-death Preliminary Final against the Minor Premiers, also coming back from as many as six goals down to claim a spectacular one-goal victory to book their place in the decider.

The last time these two sides met was in the final regular round, with Hills claiming an eight-goal victory; this followed on from their previous 35-31 win in Round 9. However Hawkesbury City proved in the Semi Final they’ve come ready to play in this year’s Finals Series, setting up an exciting contest for fans to enjoy.
