DOOLEYS State League Semi Finals

Whilst the Waratah Cup Champions were decided at the end of June, seven more DOOLEYS State League Champions will be crowned in July as Divisions 2-8 begin their Finals Series tonight (Monday 6 July) at Netball Central.

MONDAY 6 JULY
7pm Division 6
It is an all-Hunter battle in the Major Semi Final as Newcastle takes on Kurri Kurri/Hunter Flyers on the Show Court. Newcastle were undefeated in the preliminary rounds while KKNA/Hunter come into the contest on the back of a monster 60-6 win over Camden. Campbelltown and Blacktown City will contest the Minor Semi Final; when the two teams met in the preliminary rounds Campbelltown was victorious by seven goals, 47-40, in Round 13, and by four in Round 4, 57-53.

8:30pm Division 5
The undefeated Eastwood Ryde is up against Bankstown City in the Major Semi Final on the Show Court. The two teams could not be separated after 60 minutes in Round 7, the contest finishing in a 38-all draw however Eastwood Ryde got the better of Bankstown City in their most recent meeting in Round 16, 56-30. CSNA/Sydney Uni and Baulkham Hills meet in the sudden-death Minor Semi Final. In the pair’s Round 15 meeting, CSNA/Sydney Uni had the edge by 3 goals, 35-32.

TUESDAY 7 JULY
7pm Division 8
It was a tight race for Finals spots in Division 8 with the undefeated Kurri Kurri/Hunter Flyers finishing Minor Premiers while Hawkesbury City, Hills District and Central Coast were separated only by goals for/against. KKNA/Hunter Flyers and Hawkesbury City go head-to-head in the Major Semi Final on the Show Court, the two met just two weeks ago with KKNA/Hunter keeping a clean sheet with a 54-32 victory. Hills District and Central Coast will be fighting for a spot in the Preliminary Final on Court 5. In their two preliminary round fixtures Central Coast took honours in Round 10, 54-46, and Round 1, 44-23.

8:30pm Division 7
Inner Western Suburbs is up against the undefeated Central Coast in the Major Semi Final. In their Round 13 contest, Central Coast were victorious by 13 goals, 47-34. Bankstown City and Baulkham Hills face off in the Minor Semi Final. A month ago it was Bankstown City that came out on top, 53-42 in Round 15.

WEDNESDAY 8 JULY
7pm Division 2

Sutherland Shire and Northern Suburbs both finished with 26 competition points at the end of the preliminary rounds, setting up an exciting contest in the Major Semi Final. Northern Suburbs took the points in Round 15, 48-37 however in Round 6 Sutherland Shire were victors, 48-43. Contesting the Minor Semi Final are Eastwood Ryde and St George. Eastwood Ryde took the honours in both Preliminary Round meetings, 42-35 in Round 4 and 52-36 in Round 13.

THURSDAY 9 JULY
7pm Division 4

Blue Mountains finished at the top of the ladder and will meet second-placed CSNA/Sydney Uni in the Major Semi Final. The pair were split by only five goals in their most recent game, Blue Mountains winners 42-37. Illawarra and Campbelltown are set to contest the Minor Semi Final. The two have not played each other for two months, last meeting in Round 10 when Illawarra claimed victory 41-32.

8:30pm Division 3
Fighting to advance straight to the Grand Final will be Eastwood Ryde and St George in the Major Semi Final. Eastwood Ryde finished on top in the pair’s Round 16 meeting, 54-34. The stage is set for a thrilling Minor Semi Final between Sutherland Shire and Hills District, only one goal separated them in Round 12, Sutherland edging Hills 49-48 for the victory.
