2013 Runners-Up Sutherland Shire, City of Sydney/Sydney Uni and Baulkham Hills also enjoyed wins last night over defending champions Eastwood Ryde, Liverpool City and Newcastle, respectively, with the ladder beginning to take shape as we head towards the halfway point of the season.

Sutherland Shire’s 19-goal victory over Eastwood Ryde saw them further extend their grasp on second place to trail ladder leaders St George by two points.  In a rematch of the 2013 Grand Final Sutherland were able to reverse their fortunes to take honours, 62-43, on the back of a big first quarter performance.

With the two sides trading goals throughout the opening minutes, a couple of turnovers in favour of Sutherland saw them pounce to open up a 21-10 lead at the first break.  From there Eastwood were in chase mode and although winning the second half 27-24, Sutherland got one back on their rivals.

Eastwood Ryde remain in third place on equal points with City of Sydney/Syd Uni in fourth, whose 30-goal win over Liverpool City helped them stay in touch with the top three. After a fairly even first 15 minutes, CSNA/Sydney Uni put the foot down by putting on a massive 45 goals while keeping their opponents to 19 for three quarters.

Baulkham Hills, Manly-Warringah and Liverpool City are in fifth, sixth and seventh position all on four points but separated by just four percent in goal differential, with Newcastle bringing up the ladder.
