NSW athletes McCulloch, Hay & Miller join 2014 Swifts

The NSW Swifts are pleased to announce Abbey McCulloch, Madeline Hay and Brooke Miller will join the Club for the 2014 ANZ Championship season.

NSW Swifts Head Coach Rob Wright said these latest and final signings to the 2014 playing roster reflected the Club’s focus of developing a strong team not just for 2014, but for many years to come.

“It’s extremely exciting to announce that these three NSW athletes will join us for next season.  Their inclusion reflects our intent to build a team for now and the future,” Wright said.

“Abbey, Maddie and Brooke are hard-working and resilient players and are great signings.  We now have a team with a great blend of youth with high calibre, experienced players, and I’m looking forward to what they can bring to the 2014 ANZ Championship,” Wright concluded.

Abbey McCulloch will debut for her home state in 2014 following 11 on court appearances for the Queensland Firebirds in the 2013 ANZ Championship.

The 23 year old Sutherland Shire junior has enjoyed a 100 per cent National Netball Championships success in every NSW team (17U – 2006 & 2007; 19U – 2008 & 2009; 21U – 2010 & 2011) and was Vice-Captain of the 2012 Netball NSW Waratahs (Runners-Up).

Hailing from the Sutherland Shire, Madeline Hay is an 18 year old midcourter who has represented NSW at both National Netball Championships (17/U 2011, 2012; 19/U 2013) and the Australian Netball League with the Netball NSW Blues (2012-2013).

Playing as a defensive midcourter, ‘Maddie’ was this year selected in the Australian 19/U squad on the back of strong performances for NSW during the National Netball Championships in Darwin.

At just 21 years old, Brooke Miller joins the NSW Swifts having spent the last two years with the Australian Institute of Sport Netball Program, during which time she represented her country as part of the 2012 Australian 21/U team.

The Manly-Warringah junior has represented NSW at all three underage National Netball Championships including being part of two Championship winning teams (19U – 2011; 21U – 2012).
