NSWSwiftsTV chats with Lisa Alexander

The NSW Swifts had a special guest at training on Tuesday with Australian Diamonds Head coach Lisa Alexander joining the session.

Currently travelling the country on her ‘Going for Gold’ tour, Alexander is meeting with all current Diamonds squad members and their ANZ Championship Head Coaches to discuss their goals ahead for the 2014 ANZ Championship season.

The next two years are going to be big for netball, with the first step securing Gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this coming July, followed by Sydney hosting the 2015 Netball World Cup in August next year.

While in town to visit the NSW Swifts, Head Coach Rob Wright invited Alexander to oversee the team’s training – an opportunity the Australian coach was very excited about.

“I don’t always get the privilege of taking an ANZ [Championship] franchise’s training session, but Rob Wright – new [Swifts] Head Coach – has actually asked me to take the session. He’s given me a very clear focus, it’s on an area I love, which is defence so I’m really looking forward to it,” Alexander told NSWSwiftsTV.

And while Alexander must remain neutral “like Switzerland” when the NSW Swifts take on the other Aussie teams, she said she will be right behind them when the team take on our New Zealand counterparts!
