Community Coaching General Principles Course
The Community Coaching General Principles online course has been developed to assist coaches to learn the basic skills of coaching, particularly those coaches working with children. The course is currently free of charge to Australian coaches.
The course contains four modules, covering a range of general coaching topics including:
The role and responsibilities expected of a coach
Working with parents
Group management; and
Inclusive coaching practices.
It takes approximately four hours to complete, and there is assessment included at the end of each module. For more information please click here to visit the Australian Sport Commission E-Learning portal.
Intermediate General Principles of Coaching Course.
The Intermediate General Principles of Coaching course contains units on the following topics
1. The Essence of Coaching
2. Program Management
4. Sports Safety
5. Coaching Processes
6. Inclusive Coaching
7. Skill Acquisition
8. Introduction to Physiology
9. Basic Anatomy and Biomechanics
10. Development and Maturation
11. Nutrition for Sport
12. Sport Psychology
13. Anti-Doping in Sport
The IGP lecture based course has been designed by the Australian Sports Commission to complement Coach Accreditation programs at levels higher than the introductory levels but it can also be undertaken by experienced coaches, as a professional development activity, to improve their knowledge and skills.
