Netball players from the seven regional areas of New South Wales were given their chance to shine in front of some of the best coaches in the game at Netball Central last week.
Twenty five regional athletes – selected from those who trailed for either 17U and 19U State Teams and made it past Phase 1 in 2016 – were invited to the High Performance Camp.
Top coaches, such as NSW Swifts head honcho Rob Wright, were on hand to show the budding NSW talent how netball works at a High Performance level and how they can best prepare themselves for a career in the sport.
“This was our first ever Regional High Performance Camp, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for those involved,” Mardi Alpin, Regional Coordinator West Central West at Netball NSW, said.
“We’ve had athletes from as far as Lismore, Dubbo, Orange and Hastings Valley attending – some have flown in and some have driven in.
“Sometimes when these athletes go back to their home Associations they mightn’t have the experienced coaches back there so a camp like this one is to encourage them and show them some skills that are needed at the highest level.”
