Netball putting the FUN in School Holidays

As mums and dads breathe a sigh of relief with the return of the school term, it also signals the end of the Netball NSW School Holiday Clinics for the 2014 season.

From January to October, the Netball NSW Sports Development department delivered 29 clinics across New South Wales – from the Far North Coast right down to the Riverina, and everywhere in between!

More than 1,100 netballers aged between 5 and 12-years-old participated in this year’s clinics, where they brushed up on their netball knowledge, learned new skills, and met some new friends.

Clinics ranged in shapes and sizes, with Orange Netball Association hosting the largest of the season with 129 kids participating in the July clinic, which was a record number for the West/Central West region – what a great effort!

For the first time Netball NSW brought School Holiday Clinics to Cootamundra (Riverina), Lake Cargelligo (West/Central West), Gloucester (Hunter) and Inverell (Northern Inland).  120 children participated in these clinics alone, a terrific turn-out for the first-time visits.

Netball NSW General Manager – Sports Development Nikki Horton said the numbers reflected the popularity of the clinics, as well as the hard work of the Sports Development team in delivering them.

“The Netball NSW School Holiday Clinics are a popular event on our calendar, and I’m really pleased to see such impressive numbers turning out this year,” Horton said.

“The clinics are all about the participants being active and enjoying netball – even if you’ve never played before!  The Sports Development team and Regional Coordinators do a great job in making the clinics happen, so hopefully everyone who participated this year enjoyed the experience and we will see them again in 2015.”

Netball NSW is currently planning School Holiday Clinics for the 2015 season, with further information available in the coming months.
