Finalists revealed for Schools Cup State Final

The 2017 Schools Cup State Finalists have been decided after 12 Regional Finals wrapped up across the State.

Starting with the North Coast region who held their final at Hastings Valley Netball Association on Tuesday 25 July, the Regional Finals concluded with South Coast and Sydney Metro finalising their finalists on Thursday 10 August.

As a result, an incredible 40 teams will take to the courts of Genea Netball Centre later this year to contest the 2017 Schools Cup State Final.

Since being introduced in 2013, the competition has grown from 3,000 inaugural participants to over 10,000 students taking part this year – evidence of its growing popularity amongst the wider NSW sporting landscape.

Netball NSW Schools Coordinator Emily Ross said excitement was building as Schools Cup prepared for the business end of the season.

“We’re excited and proud to welcome our Regional Finalists for the 2017 Schools Cup State Final at Genea Netball Centre,” she said.

“This competition continues to go from strength-to-strength, and this year has been no exception. We’ve seen the introduction of the Years 9/10 age group, and more participants than ever sign up and enjoy our wonderful sport.

“Events like these could not be made possible without the tireless efforts from schools, teaching staff, students and all those coaching, umpiring, scoring or supporting, and so I want to thank everyone who was involved in some capacity during the year.

“On behalf of Netball NSW, I would like to congratulate the Regional Finalists and all those who have participated so far this year – it’s been an amazing Schools Cup season, and the best is still to come!”

The 2017 Schools Cup State Final will be held at the home of Netball in NSW, Genea Netball Centre, on Tuesday 19 September (Year 5/6) and Wednesday 20 September (Year 7/8 and Year 9/10).
