2015 State Age gets underway

The 2015 Netball NSW State Age Championships are officially underway with the winners of the Parade of Districts announced for each venue.

Netballers have travelled from all across NSW to participate in this year’s tournament, which has followed tradition with all competing Associations participating in the Parade of Districts in front of a panel of judges at all four venues; Baulkham Hills Shire (Championship), Eastwood Ryde (Division 2), Penrith (Division 3) and Hawkesbury City Netball Associations (Division 4).

Congratulations to the following Parade of Districts winners;

Baulkham Hills Shire: Lismore & District
Eastwood Ryde: Ballina
Penrith:
Muswellbrook
Hawkesbury City:
Taree & District

City of Ryde Mayor, Councillor Bill Pickering was present at the opening of Division 2 at Eastwood Ryde and said the Parade of Districts spectacle was one of the best he’d seen.

“Well done to all the teams.  It was interesting sitting up here watching the different ways to which the teams marched past; I must admit some of them were very unique,” Pickering said.

“I’m very pleased and honoured to be here today because I think this is probably the first time [City of] Ryde has held such a major event… we hope to see many more of these types of competitions in the future.

“Ladies and gentlemen, official guests, and most importantly to the young girls standing in front of me – welcome, enjoy yourselves, compete hard, and most importantly have fun during the 2015 State Age Championships,” Pickering concluded.

With more than 3,500 players contesting more than 5,000 matches, there is plenty netball to watch this weekend!
