Netball NSW has today confirmed the withdrawal of the Netball NSW Blues from the 2015 Australian Netball League (ANL).
This decision was made considering all Netball NSW’s existing High Performance Programs in line with Netball Australia’s recent Competition Pathway Review.
Both the Netball NSW Waratahs and Netball NSW Blues have participated in the ANL since the inaugural 2008 season as an extension to the Governing Body’s existing High Performance Programs.
“Netball NSW is constantly reviewing and evolving its High Performance Pathways to ensure it supports the organisation’s acclaimed vision of producing athletes, coaches and umpires to excel on both the domestic and international stage,” explained Netball NSW Chief Executive Officer Carolyn Campbell.
“Taking onboard Netball Australia’s recent Competition Pathway Review, coupled with the fact that this year’s competitions calendar has been condensed into 7-months due to the Netball World Cup, we felt it was in the best interests of all parties to withdraw the Blues from this year’s ANL,” concluded Campbell.
Netball NSW’s new $35M centre of excellence, Netball Central, will host the 2015 U/17 and U/19 National Netball Championships from 14-19 April, and will also be the home court of the Netball NSW Waratahs in the 2015 ANL.
