NSW 21/U TEAM SECURE 2 FROM 2 ON DAY ONE

The 2016 21/U National Championship campaign for the NSW 21/U side started today with a solid 57-29 victory over Tasmania in the first round, followed by a 51 – 41 victory against the 2015 title holders South Australia.

The team’s week long campaign commenced today with the rounds, will be followed by the bye day on Friday and will culminate in the Finals across on Saturday & Sunday, 12 & 13 March in Tasmania.

In the opening match of the competition against Tasmania today, each team member of the NSW 21/U side enjoyed court time, led by Captain Kaitlyn Bryce in the centre, and well supported with a team effort across the court.

Performances from Toni Anderson and Madeline Hay kept the pressure on to bring the ball down the court, while Kiera Austin, one of the younger players in the team, shone in her on-court performance

“Our first game against Tasmania was a very positive hit out. We utilised all 12 players on the court and I thought everyone slotted in seamlessly and got the job done. There was lots of good energy and talk out on court and we’re ready to bring that back out for our second game of the day against South Australia this afternoon,” said Captain Kaitlyn Bryce.

In the late game today, NSW were victorious against the 2014 & 2015 title-holders South Australia in a crowd engaging encounter at the Launceston Silverdome. (Match wrap to follow – morning Wed 9 March) (Results below)
