From Brewarrina to Bourke and back!

In early November, a team of staff from Netball NSW toured a number of West/Central West regional areas in order to share their love of netball, develop skills and provide learning opportunities both on and off the courts!

Netball NSW personnel from the Region, Umpiring, Coaching and Associations Development areas teamed up to bring netball skills and development opportunities to the north west area of New South Wales.

The crew travelled to Brewarrina, Bourke, Collarenebri, Lightning Ridge and Walgett and conducted school clinics, coaching and umpiring workshops and courses.

From skill sessions with school netball teams to engaging those new to our game, more than 600 children participated in clinics throughout the week.

A Level One Umpires Course was held in both Bourke and Brewarrina with 25 participants across the two courses, and coaching and umpiring workshops were held in Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri and Walgett.

“The kids and local coaches and umpires were excited to get involved from the first-timers to a couple of familiar faces from the Far West Academy of Sport netball squads,” Claudia Keady, Netball NSW Regional Coordinator – West/Central West said.

“The trip was a great success and will assist with the continual development of netball within these communities.”
