Warner selected for Netball World Youth Cup

The International Netball Federation (INF) has announced the Umpires and Umpires Appointment Panel for the Netball World Youth Cup (NWYC) which will be held in Gaborone, Botswana in July this year.

Netball Australia congratulates New South Wales’ Tara Warner who has been selected as part of the NWYC umpire pool and Western Australia’s Jacqui Jashari, selected as a member of the Umpire Appointments Panel.

Having umpired at the South East Asian Games (2015), the SANZEA Quad Series (2016) the ANZ Championship (2001-2016) and named one of the umpires in the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball season, Tara says she is excited to be travelling to Botswana.

“It’s the first time Botswana has hosted a World Cup event and I’m sure they’ll all be working very hard to put on a spectacle for everyone to enjoy.

“The Netball World Youth Cup is the pinnacle event for the world’s 21/U netball players and I’m thrilled to be a small part of this event.”

With her wealth of experience on the international netball stage, Jacqui Jashari is looking forward to watching the development of the emerging umpires.
“A tournament such as this gives lots of opportunity for the new IUA’s and the ITID group who may not have been exposed to international umpiring yet.

“It is a great learning environment for them, and an opportunity to make lasting friendships with umpires from around the world.

“I understand how the umpires must be feeling and what they hope to get from the NWYC, and hopefully the experience and coaching I can give will benefit them in their development pathway.”

Netball Australia’s Head of Community Strategy and Netball Development, Anne-Marie Phippard is excited by the appointments of Tara and Jacqui.

”We are thrilled to see the INF’s recognition of our Australian umpires and umpire coaches. Tara and Jacqui have been great contributors to netball in Australia and will be to Suncorp Super Netball in its inaugural season.”

The Netball Worth Youth Cup will be held in Gaborone, Botswana from July 8 – 16.
