Netball NSW hosted its annual Alumni function at Allphones Arena on Sunday 18 May prior to the NSW Swifts Round 12 home fixture against the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Each year, Netball NSW hosts an Alumni function for players, coaches and officials who have represented the State and are celebrating their 10 and 25 year anniversary.
Netball NSW Board Member, Rodney Watson, welcomed and thanked the 42 Alumni guests which comprised of four teams from 1989 and six teams from 2004.
It was a great opportunity for everyone to catch up with their former teammates and gave everyone a chance to catch up on what’s been going on in their lives over the last 10 years and 25 years!
It’s also an important yet simple way for Netball NSW to recognise the contribution of our State representatives, who helped form our history and pave the way for future generations to wear the Waratah with pride.
This year, past players and coaches such as Maria Lynch, Lenore Blades, Lisa Beehag, Carissa Tombs and Alison Broadbent were in attendance, plus 2004 NSW Opens’ representative and current NSW Swifts’ Assistant Coach Megan Anderson also managed to pop up to the function whilst balancing her game day duties.
After the pre-game function, guests were ushered to their courtside seats to join the record-breaking crowd of 10,118 as the NSW Swifts secured a three-goal win in front of their home crowd.
If you’re a past Netball NSW representative we would very much like to include you in Alumni correspondence and invite you to future functions.
