Australia has done it, claiming their first Commonwealth Games Gold Medal in 12 years, with a 58-40 victory over New Zealand in the final in Glasgow on Sunday night.
It was an arm wrestle in the first quarter with neither team able to gain much advantage, scores were level at 14 goals apiece heading in the first break.
The Aussies jumped out to an early lead in the second quarter before the Kiwis leveled once again, but the green & gold lifted, easily finding passage to shooter Caitlin Bassett to go ahead by four goals at halftime, 28-24.
From there the Australians would be difficult to stop, as New Zealand tried to find a way to stay in touch.
The lead was out to 11 goals at the final break and the Aussies never looked back, storming home victors by 18 goals.
Full details of the game will be available on the Netball Australia website.
