Australia to meet NZ in Gold Medal Match

Australia will meet New Zealand in the Gold Medal Match at the 2014 Commonwealth Games after defeating Jamaica and England, respectively, in the Semi Finals on Saturday night.

2015 NSW Swifts Julie Corletto, Kimberlee Green and Sharni Layton helped the Australians out to a four goal lead at the first break, 13-9, before the Jamaicans rallied.

A tight second quarter saw the Aussies lead by just one goal at halftime, but the second half was all Australia’s, controlling the match to win by 15 goals, 57-42.
Full details of the game will be available on the Netball Australia website.

New Zealand had a tougher time, a Maria Tutaia goal in the final second of the match sealed their spot in the decider after trailing England for much of the game.

2015 NSW Swift Jade Clarke and her English teammates will play Jamaica for Bronze from 7:00pm tomorrow night, Sunday 3 August AEST.

Australian and New Zealand will take the court at 9:30pm AEST with both countries boasting two Commonwealth Games Gold medals, the winner in Glasgow will be the first to reach three.
