The first day’s play of the 2014 Netball NSW State Championships has wrapped at both Campbelltown District Netball Association and Camden & District Netball Association.
At what a day it was! The sun was shining brightly to welcome players, coaches, umpires and spectators from around the State to kick-start three days of back-to-back netball!
More than 1,300 players hit the courts for the first day of action following this morning’s Parade of Districts, which saw Brunswick-Bryon Netball Association (Campbelltown) and Wyong District Netball Association (Camden) crowned the 2014 winners.

2013 Champions Manly-Warringah sit atop the ladder yet to drop a game, leading second-placed Illawarra on goal differential. They are closely followed by Central Coast neighbours Wyong (3rd) and Gosford (4th), both on 10 points, while Ku-ring-gai, Baulkham Hills and Eastwood Ryde are hot on their heels with eight points each.
17/U DIVISION TWO
Charlestown is currently on top on 18 points, leading Westlakes by goal differential. Both teams remain undefeated for the opening day, and are closely followed by Parramatta Auburn on 14 points. The next five teams are all on equal points, setting up an exciting second day of competition.
17/U DIVISION THREE
After the first day of play competition is hot in 17U Division Three, with the top three teams all on equal points. Muswellbrook holds first place after day one of play, only leading second and third-placed Eurobodalla and Gunnedah by goal differential. They hold a two point advantage over not one, but five teams, setting up an exciting second day of play.
Charlestown is also leading the 21U competition yet to drop a game, with neighbouring Newcastle in a close second. Three points separate Blacktown City, Campbelltown (who are playing on their home courts) and Hastings Valley.
Four points separate the top six teams, with 2013 Pat Weston OAM Country Championship Winner Orange sitting in top spot. They have a two points advantage over Wyong and Penrith, with Baulkham Hills, Gosford and Maitland closely following suit.
OPEN DIVISION TWO
Woolgoolga is the only team to remain undefeated in the Open Division Two competition, with a slight one point lead over second-placed Queanbeyan. Two points separate the next six teams with Wagga Wagga leading by goal differential in third place.
MASTERS (Over 35, Over 40, Over 45)
Over 35 – Three points separate the top six teams in the Over 35 competition, with Manly-Warringah sitting on top with four wins, one loss and a draw after the first day’s play; Baulkham Hills and Gosford make up the top three.
Over 40/45 – Two points separate the top three teams. Northern Suburbs 40s sit on top, with Hills 45s and St George 40s closely following suit.
Play continues tomorrow morning, Sunday 8 June, at 8:15am at both Campbelltown and Camden. The last round at both venues will be played at 12:36pm, giving State Championship attendees the opportunity to get down to Allphones Arena to cheer on the NSW Swifts in their Minor Semi Final at 2:15pm.
