Four NSW Athletes headed for AIS in 2013

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) has announced scholarships to four NSW athletes, including first time scholarship holder Kaitlyn Bryce, to join their 2013 Netball Program.

Kaitlyn joins returning AIS members and Australian 21/U squad members Kristina Brice, Brooke Miller and Amy Sommerville in the 15-strong AIS Netball Squad to train and compete throughout season 2013.

NSW coaches Julie Fitzgerald and Anita Keelan will again take the reins as Head Coach and Assistant Coach respectively for next year.

In 2013 the squad will enjoy expert coaching and state-of-the-art facilities, as well as access to world-leading sports science and sports medicine.

Fitzgerald says many of Australia’s finest netballers have progressed through the AIS program as it provides a platform for future success.

“Our training program is based on developing the skills and tactics needed by Australian teams to be successful against international competition,” says Fitzgerald.

“I am sure that we have players in this squad who will step up to represent Australia at senior level.”

Fourteen of the athletes announced are part of the Australian 21/U squad, who will be vying for a position in the team to compete at the World Youth Netball Championships at Glasgow in August next year.

Some of the current Australian Diamonds players who have progressed from the AIS Netball Program include NSW Swifts Kimberlee Green and Susan Pratley, as well as NSW juniors Catherine Cox and Chelsea Pitman.

Netball NSW would like to congratulate Kaitlyn, Kristina, Brooke and Amy on their 2013 AIS Scholarships.
