Go CRAZY with The Kids’ Cancer Project

There is a little over one month until The Kids’ Cancer Project’s (TKCP) Official Netball Charity Day on Saturday 31 May and Netball NSW is encouraging our community to once again join in the festivities by raising money from your crazy fundraising ideas.

Last year, 23 Associations from around NSW took part in a fun-filled day of ‘crazy’ hat, hair and socks at local netball courts, with over $100,000 raised over the last few years towards vital childhood cancer research.

Associations and Clubs can host either a ‘crazy hair’ or ‘crazy sock’ day – or come up with your own idea! In return, players make a gold coin donation to help bring hope to kids with cancer.

Netball NSW will be getting involved later in the month, hosting a morning tea for staff to dress in their wackiest outfits and donate to the worthy cause.

Netball NSW CEO Carolyn Campbell said it was important for the organisation to lead by example and help our partners TKCP in finding a cure for childhood cancer.

“Although a bit of fun, the morning will be a small way that Netball NSW can contribute to raising vital funds to aid TKCP’s vital work,” said Carolyn.

“The Kids’ Cancer Project do such important work, and taking part in their Official Netball Charity Day is a fun and inclusive way of raising awareness and funds for vital research for the hard to cure childhood cancers.”

Eighteen Associations have already signed up for a 2014 Netball Season Crazy Hair & Sock Day including Baulkham Hills Shire, Blue Mountains, Brunswick Byron, Cessnock District, City of Sydney, Cowra, Hills District, Forbes, Lakeside, Lithgow, Liverpool City, Muswellbrook, Orange, Parramatta-Auburn, Penrith District, Southern Highlands, Wyong District, and Young & District.

“We want to send a huge thank you to the Associations which have already signed up this season, but there’s still plenty of time to sign your Club or Association up for your own fundraising day – together we can make a difference!”

Netball Associations, clubs or even teams (maybe on a training night?) can host their own Crazy Hair and Sock Days on any date – with the official Netball Charity Day on Saturday 31 May.
