Netball Australia has confirmed this morning that six NSW athletes have been invited to participate in the upcoming Fast5 and Emerging Talent Camp next week in Canberra.

Erin Bell, Kristina Brice, Paige Hadley, Abbey McCulloch, Verity Simmons and Amy Sommerville have been included in the 18-player squad, which will head to Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Canberra for a tough three days of training, Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 August.

Hadley, McCulloch and Sommerville’s 2016 NSW Swifts teammates Maddy Turner and Stephanie Wood have also been included in the squad; Wood’s following last week’s including in the Australian Diamonds team to contest the 2016 Netball Quad Series – read the full announcement.

The athletes will be put through their paces by Australian Fast5 Head Coach Jane Searle, who will be keeping a close eye on the girls while Australian Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander and National Selectors Michelle Wilkins and Anne Sargeant will be on deck to lend a hand.

“With less than three months until the Fast5 Netball World Series, we are looking closely at selection for our Fast5 team,” said Searle.

“The athletes in attendance have been earmarked by National Selectors as some of our brightest talent, we will be putting them through their paces to provide an understanding of what it takes to represent Australia,” Searle explained.

“This year is the first time the Fast5 Netball World Series will be played on home soil, and we are determined to put a strong team forward,” said Searle.

The 2016 Fast5 Netball World Series will be held at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October; the first time the tournament has been hosted on Aussie soil.

General public tickets go on sale at 2pm AEST, Friday 19 August via ticketek.com.au. To access pre-sale tickets at 2pm AEST, Monday 15 August, sign up to the Fast 5 Netball World Series newsletter.
