Netball Central Update – one month on…

It’s been one month since the inaugural NSW Swifts FAN DAY was held on Sunday 17 February – how time flies when you’re having fun!

Hundreds of our netball family and friends came to Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre (SOPSC) to take part in the fun activities on offer, met the NSW Swifts team and enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of our home venue.

Another historic event happened that Sunday, with the ‘turning of the first sod’ by NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell and Minister for Sport Hon. Graham Annesley MP on the site of our soon-to-be brand new home, Netball Central.

With Netball NSW President Wendy Archer AM and CEO Carolyn Campbell – along with members of our community – watching on, the ceremony marked the beginning of construction of the new state-of-the-art centre.

Four weeks on and construction has commenced.

When attending the game on Monday night, supporters will notice space has been cleared to accommodate the builders’ requirements in mapping out the foundations of our six indoor court facility.  Earthmovers have also been on-site to excavate the site to enable foundations to be laid over the coming weeks.

Make sure you stay up-to-date with the progress of Netball Central by following Netball NSW at netballnsw.com, on Facebook (facebook.com/OfficialNetballNSW) or Twitter (twitter.com/@Netball_NSW).

Each week, we will update the above multimedia platforms with new articles, photos and videos to show the progression of Netball Central, and will continue to inform our community on changes affecting SOPSC for Swifts’ home matches.
