Netball NSW welcomes new GM – Marketing, Events & Communications

Netball NSW is pleased to welcome Rebecca Shaw as the incoming General Manager – Marketing, Events & Communications.

Shaw comes to netball with a strong background in communications, marketing and events, primarily within the AFL over the past 14 years. Her tenure in this sport has seen her continually expand her skills and experience as her roles have evolved.

Her career journey through AFL has seen her move into a number of senior management roles at the Brisbane Lions, AFL and, more recently, GIANTS AFL, where she has worked across the communications, events and marketing areas.

She is one of the original GIANTS’ staff members and has experienced the challenges of establishing a new sporting franchise; something that will be invaluable as the organisation continues to build its newest franchise, GIANTS Netball.

Netball NSW CEO Carolyn Campbell said the organisation was excited to welcome Shaw, someone with great industry respect and experience.

“Rebecca joins Netball NSW with an intimate knowledge of the Australian sporting industry, as well as great respect from her colleagues,” Campbell said.

“We have already worked quite closely with Rebecca in her role with GIANTS AFL, and the strategic alliance with our GIANTS Netball Club, and I’ve been impressed with her enthusiasm and nous.

“We’re excited about her impending arrivals and how she will engage those practices across our three brands – Netball NSW, the NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball.”

Shaw’s experience has provided her with a strong understanding of both the Sydney and Canberra markets, and the diverse fan bases across both locations. Her breadth of knowledge across working with TV production and major events is underpinned by her strong people management.

Shaw will commence her role with Netball NSW on Monday 27 March.
