Excitement around the NSW netball community is reaching fever pitch as thousands of people from around the State begin their pilgrimage to Campbelltown, Bankstown and Illawarra Netball Associations for the 2016 SAMSUNG State Age Championships, 2-4 July.
More than 3,000 athletes from 309 teams representing 87 Associations will be donning their team’s colours, braiding their hair and putting on their sneakers, ready to contest three days of back-to-back netball.
For some the 48th installment of the annual tournament will be the beginning of their representative careers; while for others this year may signal their last year contesting the State Age Championships.
Whilst the players will be on court doing their home town proud, we can’t forget the amazing officials and volunteers who will also be lining the courts along with the thousands of spectators across this weekend.
Just a friendly reminder for everyone heading to one of the locations over the three days of competition that an increase in traffic is expected so remember to leave plenty of time when travelling to your venues.
Also if you haven’t downloaded your 2016 SAMSUNG State Age Championships Program yet, you can find it here.
On behalf of Netball NSW we would like to wish every player, umpire, coach, official and supporter all the best of luck over the next three days!
