Vale Jean Gee OAM

It is with great sadness Netball NSW informs our community of the passing of former Anne Clark Service Award recipient, Jean Gee OAM.

Jean hailed from Manly Warringah Netball Association (MWNA) and was a resident of Curl Curl before relocating to Queensland.  Prior to her move Jean, along with her husband Ray, were heavily involved in local community activities, in particular swimming and netball.

Jean first began her association with MWNA as a player, before going on to be a representative coach, Association Secretary and President, before being honoured with Life Membership in 1976 to reward her many years of dedicated hard work; only the third person to receive this prestige at the Association.

In the same year Jean was presented with the Anne Clark Service Award by Netball NSW, becoming the first MWNA representative to receive the award – one of Netball NSW’s most prestigious awards the acknowledges those who give endlessly to our sport and whom, through their generosity, have made netball the most successful women’s sport in Australia.

Jean was also recognised by Warringah Shire Council with Citizen Service Awards, and will be remembered as a mentor to many.

Our thoughts are with Jean’s family, friends and the Manly Warringah netball community at this time.
