Maria Rigor has been named the inaugural Lynn Quinn OAM Bench Official of the Year at the annual State Dinner over the weekend.
Introduced in 2013, the Bench Official of the Year recognises a volunteer who has shown consistency throughout the DOOLEYS State League competition, and has displayed potential, enthusiasm and willingness to learn all aspects of netball – both on and off the court.
It was the first time the award has been presented to a member of the Bench Officials, who have the important responsibility of ensuring matches run smoothly and on time, and there are no discrepancies with scores or shooting statistics.
Speaking to NetballNSWTV on the night, Rigor said it was really exciting, although admitted it was a something she wasn’t expecting.
“I was so surprised; I had no indication that it was going to happen … I want to thank Lynn Quinn for helping [the Bench Officials] out, especially me, for all the training and time she has spent with us,” Rigor said.
Congratulations Maria Rigor on being presented the inaugural Lynn Quinn OAM Bench Official of the Year Award.
