2012: Big Year for NSW Coaches

As the year draws to a close we have been recognising the success stories of season 2012.

Over the last month we have been celebrating a fantastic season, shining a spotlight on the award winners from the Netball NSW State Dinner and now it is the coaches turn…

2012 has been a huge year for NSW coaches, with a large number kicking goals on their development pathways with over 1,000 coaches achieving accreditation across Foundation, Development, Intermediate and Advance levels.

Throughout the year Netball NSW has stepped up its efforts to provide NSW coaches opportunities to take their development to the next level; whether it was bringing courses and workshops to regional areas,or providing an insight into High Performance coaching with the ‘Coaches View’ workshop and ‘Insiders Series’.

This season participants undertaking the Advanced Coaching course were given a fantastic opportunity when the Australian Netball League visited the Anne Clark Centre in Round Five.

The 12 participants were given inside access to the game plan and analysis of both the Netball NSW Blues and Netball NSW Waratahs for their matches against the Territory Storm and Australian Institute of Sport, with NSW Swift Head Coach Lisa Beehag the guest presenter.

This was a terrific development opportunity for the coaches to interact with the coaches before and after the games as usually participants of the Advanced course would only be able to do their game analysis section using a DVD recording of a match.

It is Netball NSW’s goal to continue to provide more development opportunities to regional areas; from NetSetGo! sessions to programs,  courses and on-court training sessions.  Recently the Anne Clark Centre hosted over 30 coaches from all over NSW including Ballina, Bathurst, Dubbo, Port Macquarie, Taree, Newcastle and Wagga Wagga, for a Professional Development weekend.  Participants were taken through the Coaches Presenters course,Selectors course and a Game Sense workshop, so they could go back to their Associations and continue the education process.

For the first time ever, Netball NSW will be conducting the Advanced Coaching Accreditation Certificate outside of Sydney Metropolitan when we make the trip to Wagga Wagga in February 2013.  This is a unique experience for regional coaches to continue their development pathway, and registrations will be taken in the New Year.
