The 2014 Netball NSW Biennial Conference is fast-approaching however there is still time to register to take part in this jam-packed weekend of all things netball.
The fifth event of its kind, the 2014 Biennial Conference will cater to all lovers of netball – from coaches to umpires, administrators to supporters – all looking to learn something new and further develop their skills.
Conference delegates interested in coaching will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best, including NSW Swifts Head Coach Rob Wright who will conduct a number of practical and theoretical sessions across the weekend.
Wright and his team of coaches will run a real-time training session with the NSW Swifts, giving onlookers a unique insight into the techniques and skills being used. Wright will also delve into the importance of the centre pass to winning games, and will provide the audience with insights and different ideas for coaching and implementing strategies.
For those interested in the long term objectives of the High Performance department, General Manager – High Performance Tracey Fear and her team will discuss the three year High Performance Strategic Plan, including Talent Identification and NSW State Teams.
Highly recommended for Regional Academy, State League and Representative Coaches, this session will go through long-term objective of discovering and nurturing the best netball talent in the State and country.
There’s also plenty on offer for those in white in our community, with umpires also given the opportunity to learn from the best. ANZ Championship officials Michelle Phippard and Helen George will be holding sessions across the weekend, while Umpire & Officials Development Coordinator Jan Simpson will be providing an overview of everything umpiring in NSW. Umpires will also be given the opportunity to tap into Wright’s extensive video analysis knowledge with a session on how to use technology to enhance their own game performance.
For those interested in helping take their Club or Association to the next level, Sponsorship Manager Sarah Sugar will run a session on how to work with your committee to invite like-minded, netball family businesses into partnerships with your people.
MyNetball, the freshly introduced online registration and competitions system from Netball Australia, has been in effect for the last six months and Association Database & Membership Manager Sonia Gouveia will run a refresher session for everything you need to know on the new system.
The sessions will cover a range of topics – from registering players to creating competitions – with Gouveia on hand to answer any burning questions you have on the subject.
In addition with the ANZ NetSetGO! program becoming compulsory from this year, Junior Development Coordinator Amy Quirk go through best practices for Clubs and Associations to use, before putting into action with a real-time practical demonstration. A must-attend for those interested at engaging our netball youngsters!
Attending the Netball NSW Biennial Conference will not only provide you with additional knowledge, tools and ideas ahead of the new season, but enable you to meet and mingle with likeminded people from the New South Wales netball community.
The agenda is jam-packed full of educational, insightful and interactive sessions and workshops covering all aspects of netball. The 28 sessions cover an array of streams including coaching, umpiring, management and participation. Delegates can tailor their Conference experience to their areas of interest.
