Sports High Schools learn from NSW’s best

Netball NSW hosted a Gala Day last Wednesday, attended by NSW’s seven Sports High Schools.

The Gala Day provided an opportunity for Year 7 and 8 players from the schools to be coached by two of the organisation’s most experienced coaches.

Nerida Stewart, NSW Institute of Sports Head Coach and the Head Coach of the 2018 17/U State team, emphasised to the players the importance of doing the small things well.

Colleen Mitchell, Head Coach of the Waratahs Australian Netball League Team talked about the importance of intensity in everything the players do.

The players responded well to the encouragement of the coaches and there was impressive improvement seen throughout the day.

Rather than there being a winning team, each Coach selected the player they felt had responded best to coaching on offer to receive a prize from Giants Netball and ex-Diamonds star Bec Bulley.

Bulley then spoke to the players about her amazing netball journey and talked about the importance of a positive attitude both on and off the court.

Trials will be held shortly for the Sports High Schools. For further information please look in the Positions vacant section of the Netball NSW website.
