DOOLEYS Metro League Grand Final teams secured

Teams have secured their places in the DOOLEYS Metro League Grand Finals next week after some great victories during Preliminary Finals. Here’s a wrap up of how the teams went across all six divisions (see overview below).

DIVISION 1

It’s a Randwick v Northern Suburbs Grand Final next week after Northern Suburbs pipped Hills District in the Prelims by 4 goals, 35-39. It could be anyone’s game though, with both teams beating each other by huge margins throughout the season.

Randwick 60 – Northern Suburbs 42

DIVISION 2

Minor Premiers Manly-Warringah put on an impressive display to defeat Campbelltown District, 47-33, pushing them straight to the GF next week with Inner Western Suburbs. Both teams have gotten a win over each other previously, so it’s going to be a tough battle.

Inner Western Suburbs 43 – Manly-Warringah 40

DIVISION 3

Randwick have fought their way to the Grand Final next week with an impressive 10-goal win over Manly-Warringah. Randwick will be taking on Minor Premiers Inner Western Suburbs, with both teams getting the win over each other during the regular season.

DIVISION 4

In a major shock to Division 4, Minor Premiers Hawkesbury City lost their Preliminary Final (and their Semi the week before), knocking them out of the competition and thus the opportunity to play in the Grand Final. Illawarra District stormed ahead in the game to win by 11 goals, 40-29, which means they’ll be up against Hills District next week. At this stage, Grand Final success can go either way, as they’ve both won and lost against each other.

DIVISION 5

Finishing fourth place on the ladder, Parramatta Auburn are through to the Grand Final to take on Minor Premiers Liverpool City after a big win over Hills District, 55-41. Liverpool City has the advantage, however, as they’ve beaten Hills on both previous occasions.

DIVISION 6

Despite winning the title of Minor Premiers, Illawarra District have been knocked out of the competition after suffering an 11-goal defeat to third-placed Baulkham Hills Shire, 40-51. This sets up an Inner Western Suburbs v Baulkham Hills Shire Grand Final, with Inner Western Suburbs having conquered Baulkham Hills both times during the season.
