Central Coast have continued their undefeated season by defeating Inner Western Suburbs, 64-28, to secure their place in the 2015 DOOLEYS State League Division 7 Grand Final.
It was a dominant display from the Hunter side who led from the front from the very first whistle, never looking in doubt throughout the 60 minutes. Whilst the score didn’t truly reflect the hard-fought contest Inner Western Suburbs put up, they’ll now have a second chance at featuring in the title decider when they meet Bankstown City in next week’s Preliminary Final.
Bankstown have kept their 2015 season alive after a tight contest with Baulkham Hills, finishing 46-33 victors in the hard-fought Minor Semi Final.
Major Semi Final: Central Coast 64 d Inner Western Suburbs 28
Central Coast (CCNA) were brimming with confidence after taking a perfect season of 18 consecutive wins into the Finals Series to open the scoring within seconds, putting up three unanswered goals before Inner Western Suburbs (IWSNA) found the post.
It set the tone for the match, with CCNA rampaging out to a fierce start to outscore their opponents 17 goals to four in the opening quarter. This was by and large through their quick transitional play and strong defensive pressure across the court, making it difficult for IWSNA to find connections.
But IWSNA continued to put up the good fight, the scoreboard not accurately representing the contest held on the Netball Central Show Court. After finishing the opening quarter strongly, IWSNA continued to work hard with their shooters combining well to provide strong targets in the circle.
However CCNA were in a class by themselves, as they’d shown all season, and were able to transition the ball quickly to keep the scoreboard ticking over – whilst IWSNA were made to work for every possession.
While IWSNA continued to contest until the dying seconds, it was Central Coast’s win from the start as they continued to work hard across the court. Finishing a dominant 60-minute performance with a goal in the final seconds, Central Coast finished 36-goal victors to book their spot in the title decider.
CCNA│ Q1: 17 – Q2: 32 (15) – Q3: 49 (17) – Q4: 64 (15)

Minor Semi Final: Bankstown City 46 d Baulkham Hills 33
Nothing could separate the two sides as the locked into an early see-sawing battle of trading goals. Slowly but surely Bankstown City (BCNA) began to settle first, making the most of their possession gains to capitalise on the scoreboard.
However Baulkham Hills (BHSNA) weren’t to be discouraged, staying within touch to threaten their opponents lead. BHSNA worked the ball with patience, trying to capitalise on the scoreboard when in possession, whilst under terrific pressure from BCNA’s defenders.
A goal in the dying seconds of quarter time brought BHSNA another goal closer to BCNA, giving them a confidence boost heading into the second 15 minutes.
BHSNA continued their good run, opening the scoring for the second quarter; but it would be as close as BCNA would allow them as once again the teams locked into a back-and-forth trade of goals. However costly errors began to creep into BHSNA game, which took the pressure off their opposition and allowed BCNA to put their foot down.
By half-time BCNA were able to follow up from a run of goals to post a handy six goal advantage.
Once again nothing could separate the sides as BHSNA tried in vain to claw back the deficit, with BCNA not allowing them an inch closer. An injury timeout disrupted play, allowing both sides to regather. BHSNA came out firing, coming closer to BCNA… but not close enough.
Whilst it was BHSNA’s best scoring quarter thus far, it wasn’t enough to catch BCNA as they posted their third consecutive 11-goal haul to maintain a five goal advantage heading into the final 15 minutes.
With their season on the line, both sides threw everything at the contest as BCNA tried to repel a fast-finishing BHSNA. With time quickly ran out, errors began creeping into BHSNA as they became desperate to claw back the deficit.
In the end BCNA were able to run out to be 13-goal victors in what was a score not reflecting the closely-fought contest with BHSNA.
BCNA│ Q1: 11 – Q2: 22 (11) – Q3: 33 (11) – Q4: 46 (13)
BHSNA│ Q1: 8 – Q2: 16 (8) – Q3: 27 (9) – Q4: 33 (5)
