The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

What is it?

The Award is a leading structured (non-formal education) youth development program, empowering all young Australians aged 14 to 25 to explore their full potential regardless of their location or circumstance. The Award is a fully inclusive program and has no social, political, or religious affiliations.

To earn an Award, each young person must learn a skill, improve their physical wellbeing, volunteer in their community and experience a team adventure in a new environment. All Participants are supported by a network of adult Award Leaders, Assessors, Supervisors, and mentors.

As a Registered Activity Provider, Netball NSW now have the capacity to assist Award Participants in completing the Skills, Service or Physical Recreation Sections of the Award, through their respective Netball Association or Club.

This provides a great opportunity for Associations and Clubs to support young people to get involved in netball through playing the sport or being involved as a volunteer.

For more information on The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and how you can get involved as an Award Participant, or an Association or Club wanting to assist Participants, see the resources below.
