Join Netball NSW’s Fast5 competition

Netball NSW is delighted and excited to introduce a new Fast5 competition which will be held at Netball Central over six weeks.

Fast5 is a modified variation of netball featuring shortened games, fewer players on court and goals worth multiple points.

This exciting new format was first introduced by the International Netball Federation (INF) in 2008, and was primarily developed for a new international competition – the Fast 5 Netball World Series.

It’s fun, social, fitness-based and – best of all – it’s available to everyone!

The Netball NSW six-week pilot social competition will be held on Monday nights from 24 October 2016 to 28 November 2016 and games will comprise of four six-minute quarters, with a minimum of five players per team excluding any substitutes.

Do you work in Sydney Olympic Park and fancy yourself a bit of a netballer but don’t have time to dash home from work to compete each week?

Well now is your chance to shine and join us from 5:45pm with your colleagues and show us what you’ve got. Or how about a friendly bonding session with the family and best friends, or just playing a nice social game of netball to get fit? There is something for everyone.

Not registered with a netball Association? No dramas, the Fast5 tournament does not require you to be a registered Netball NSW Member, however, you must be at least 16 years of age to compete.

And gentlemen, the ladies can’t have all the fun so it’s your chance to put them to the test by joining a team today!

Nikki Horton, Sports Development Manager at Netball NSW, says the organisation is delighted to be running this new competition which promises to be a whole lot of fun.

“The most important thing to remember with this Fast5 initiative is that fun is the name of the game,” Horton said.

“This is open to everyone; men, women, old, young, people who have played netball for years or people who have never played at all.

“We have all seen the amazing feats our elite netballers have achieved, but netball is about more than just that – it is about having a good time with our friends and the Fast5 competition allows competitors play in a chilled environment.

“And they get to play on the world-class courts of Netball Central, the greatest in our game, and that is really, really cool.”

Don’t miss your opportunity to be a part of one of Netball NSW’s biggest social events by registering your team now as registrations close on Sunday 17 October
