The Australian 21/U team has stormed into the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup Quarter Finals undefeated after a 65-36 victory over South Africa in their final pool game.
The Aussies, who have four NSW athletes in their ranks – Kiera Austin, Claire O’Brien, Teigan O’Shannassy and Jamie-Lee Price – will now face Scotland in Gaborone, Botswana for the first stages of the Finals series.
The game will be live streamed on the Netball Australia Facebook page and you can tune in from 10pm (AEST) > WATCH IT HERE.
Australia’s victory over the South Africans comes after dominant performances in the team’s opening three games against Zimbabwe (86-33), Singapore (119-12) and Barbados (93-32).
However, they won’t be taking tonight’s challenge of the Scots lightly. Scotland have also played four games at the tournament, going down to New Zealand (26-78) and Northern Ireland (36-55) but registering good wins over Samoa (46-44) and Sri Lanka (69-48).
“Each area of the court is developing game by game and it is pleasing to see adjustments and improvements made all over the court,” Australia coach, Tania Obst, told Netball Australia earlier this week.
Netball NSW would like the wish the Aussie 21/U team the best of luck as the tournament enters the business end.
