The 2019 HART Junior State Titles are underway with thousands of young netballers descending on Baulkham Hills and Penrith for the next three days.
Formerly known as the Netball NSW State Age Championships, the three-day event, which is one of the largest female sporting competitions in the southern hemisphere, will see teams play in three age-groups (12U, 13U and 14U) and across four divisions (1, 2, 3 & 4).
In total 2,347 players from 232 teams, representing 85 Associations, will hit the courts with almost 400 umpires officiating.
In 2019 Baulkham Hills Netball Association will play host to divisions 1 and 2 of the age-groups, while Penrith District Netball Association will welcome participants from divisions 3 and 4.
State Champions will be crowned on Monday with the Division 1 winners in each respective age-group taking the mantle of State Champions.
Netball NSW Competitions Manager Claire Dale said the competition, which goes from Saturday to Monday, will be another huge undertaking for everyone involved, but one that would prove hugely rewarding.
“It’s always amazing to see how events such as these come together and how strong our netball community in NSW is,” she said.
“The HART Junior State Titles are the culmination of months of planning and teamwork by players, coaches, volunteers, officials, supporters, parents and staff.
“This is also where some stars of the future will be spotted and many of our current Swifts, Giants and Diamonds showed big potential at events such as this.
“However, the main thing is that young players from all over the state come together to play the game they love in what is the real demonstration of the strength of grassroots netball.
“I would like to wish everyone the best for the next three days of action and look forward to an amazing competition.”
Netball NSW would also like to thank HART Sport, the naming rights partner of the Junior State Titles, and extend those thanks to the following official partners of the event: QBE, TAFE NSW, BBX and The Kids Cancer Project.
