The NSW 19/U Team are the 2015 National Champions after overcoming Victoria in Sunday’s National Netball Championship Grand Final – the State’s first National title since 2012 – with defender Toni Anderson named Tournament MVP.

After finishing second at the end of the preliminary rounds, the NSW 17/U Team defeated Victoria to advance to the Grand Final where they ultimately lost to Queensland, 27-24 to finish Runners-Up

Eleven NSW athletes were named in the Australian 17/U and 19/U Squads following the tournament.

The NSW Swifts secured their first win in six rounds last Sunday (19 April), with a commanding 66-50 victory over New Zealand Ladder Leaders, Northern Mystics.

The Swifts take on the Central Pulse in Wellington on ANZAC Day, this Saturday 25 April, before returning home for the Allphones Arena BLOCKBUSTER on Sunday 3 May – this is one game you don’t want to miss!

SAPPHIRE COAST CROWNED 2015 SOUTH COAST CHAMPIONSThe 2015 South Coast Regional State League competition concluded over the weekend, with Sapphire Coast being crowned the Division 1 Champions, while Illawarra took out the Division 2 (17/U) title.

North Coast also got their 2015 Regional State League competition underway over the weekend with Hastings Valley hosting the opening day’s play last Sunday 19 April.

FOUNDATIONS OF EXCELLENCE AT TRAIN LIKE A SWIFT CLINICOver three days at Netball Central from Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 April, 80 girls aged 12-16 years-old gathered to try their hand at what it takes to be a NSW Swift for the Train Like a Swift clinic!

Sessions covered practical and theoretical elements ranging from fitness, game sense, ball skills, stretching, nutrition to team building, shooting and more with NSW Swifts Kimberlee Green, Julie Corletto, Abbey McCulloch, Caitlin Thwaites and Micaela Wilson on hand.

ACADEMY GAMES SETS UP BRIGHT FUTUREHeld on the Central Coast from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 April, 11 of 12 NSW Regional Academy of Sport netball squads participated in the two-day netball competition at the 2015 ClubsNSW Academy Games.

Whilst the concept of Academy Games isn’t about the results, there were many highly entertaining matches played across the weekend and according to Netball NSW Volunteer Workforce Manager Di Brown shows “the future of NSW netball is looking very bright”.

There is still time to get your Team, Club or Association together for Crazy Hair & Sock Day! Netball NSW is encouraging the NSW netball community to dress up to raise funds for Official Charity Partner The Kids’ Cancer Project.

The Official Crazy Hair & Sock Day is Saturday 23 May, however you can organise your own ‘crazy’ day on a date of your choosing to help contribute towards the fight against childhood cancers.

  NSW WELL REPRESENTED IN NETBALL WORLD CUP SQUADNSW juniors’ Erin Bell, Ashleigh Brazill, Kimberlee Green, April Letton, Kimberley Ravaillion and Gabi Simpson, are joined by Green’s NSW Swifts’ teammates Julie Corletto, Sharni Layton and Caitlin Thwaites in the Australian Diamonds Netball World Cup Squad, vying for the opportunity to represent Australia at Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 from 7-16 August.
