Hadley: can’t wipe the smile off my face

In her first season of elite netball, Paige Hadley is continuing her stellar year with Lisa Alexander naming the midcourter in the Australian Diamonds team on the weekend.

At just 20 years-old, Hadley already has 20 ANZ Championship caps to her name, will run out for the Australian 21/U side to contest the 2013 World Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow this month, and now has the chance to make her Diamonds debut alongside some of her idols.

Hadley told NSWSwiftsTV that she was “over the moon” when Head Coach Alexander read out her name to take on the Malawi Queens in a two-test series.

“When I heard my name it was at the end of the list this time, not the start [like the Australian 21/U team], and I’m just so excited,” Hadley said.

“I’m so humbled and words can’t describe what I’m feeling right now, I haven’t wiped the smile off my face!”

Hadley could make her debut in front of a home crowd when the Diamonds contest a two-match series against the Malawi Queens in October.

The Diamonds will take the court against the Queens in Wollongong on Wednesday 16 October at WIN Entertainment Centre, before travelling to the Gold Coast for the final match on Saturday 19 October at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.

One of six athletes announced in the 2014 NSW Swifts playing roster so far, Hadley says she is also excited to return to the Club to contest her second ANZ Championship season.

“As soon as I get back into the Swifts uniform it’s all about the team – I said from the start of this season it wasn’t about my personal goals, it was about the team.  So far we have [announced some great players] so hopefully we can win the 2014 ANZ Championship,” Hadley said.
