Pettitt ready to take the court

It may be a new name but the ultimate goal remains the same for Susan Pettitt (nee Pratley) when the NSW Swifts step onto the court to open their 2015 ANZ Championship campaign this weekend.

In what is her 14th elite netball season, ‘Prats’ will run out with a new name on her Swifts dress after getting married during the off-season.  NSWSwiftsTV caught up with the 30-year-old before training to see how she feels about the change.

“I think it’s going to be quite exciting actually – I think my mum will probably have a little tear coz she still really likes ‘Prats’ still, but I think [my husband] Brad will be very excited to hear Pettitt,” Susan told NSWSwiftsTV.

While it’s an exciting addition to the 2015 season, Susan said she was as determined as ever to achieve for both herself and for the NSW Swifts.

“Every year you want to improve… I go into the season with different goals and different expectations for myself.  This year it’s about challenging myself again and trying to get better and better.”

The Swifts are in their final preparations before they head to New Zealand for the first of their two back-to-back games across the ditch to open the season, where they’ll meet the Southern Steel at home in Invercargill on Sunday 1 March at 5:10pm (AEDST) – watch it live on FOX SPORTS 1.

“You think it’s been a long pre-season and all of a sudden it’s [Round 1], so we’re very excited to get over to New Zealand and get out for our first game,” Susan said.
