Just over 500 tickets remain to the 2015 ANZ Championship Official Pre-Season Summer Shootout with netball fans chomping at the bit to see the world’s best netballers live in action at Netball Central.
All 10 ANZ Championship teams from Australia and New Zealand will converge on Netball NSW’s $35 million purpose-built netball facility in Sydney Olympic Park from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 February to get an early preview of the competition ahead of Round 1 (from February 28).
NSW Swifts Head Coach Rob Wright is counting down the days until the pre-season tournament, saying the weekend will offer a perfect chance to see how his charges are faring ahead of the Club’s season opener on Sunday 1 March.
“I’m really excited about the upcoming Summer Shootout, not only to see our Swifts players in action but also for Netball NSW to host its first competition in our new centre of excellence, Netball Central,” Wright said.
“I’ve set the Swifts a rigorous pre-season training schedule and the players are really tackling it head-on; they’re working hard, building confidence as a unit and putting those building blocks into place for a successful 2015 campaign.
“There is a lot of work to do before it arrives, but the Summer Shootout provides a perfect barometer to see how we are gelling as a group – how the combinations are coming along, which players match up – as well as getting a look at our competition.”
The Summer Shootout also provides Swifts Members and fans their first look at the 2015 playing roster, which boasts six new faces joining Kimberlee Green, Paige Hadley, Sharni Layton, Abbey McCulloch, Susan Pettitt and Caitlin Thwaites.
Session tickets are $10 for NSW Swifts Members, $15 for non-Members and there are four sessions scheduled across the three days; however, Session 3 (Saturday afternoon) has already sold out, with a limited number of tickets remaining for both Session 2 (Saturday morning) and Session 4 (Sunday morning).
“We have the greatest Members and fans in the world, and the support we’ve received already is unbelievable and really backs that up,” Wright said.
“The Swifts love playing in front of our home fans; the noise, the colour, the atmosphere really helps us over the line. With over 2,600 tickets already sold for the Summer Shootout, combined with our Family Fun Day on Sunday 8 February, I’ve no doubt the atmosphere will be electric – we can’t wait to see you all there!”
The 2015 NSW Swifts Family Fun Day is a FREE EVENT on Sunday 8 February, being held in and around both Netball Central and the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre (SOPSC).
The Family Fun Day is open to all supporters and will culminate with the NSW Swifts taking on the Melbourne Vixens in the final game of the Summer Shootout at SOPSC – FREE Entry to the match with no ticket required, based on a first in best dressed basis.
