Swifts HQ: Friday 9 May

In SwiftsHQ we bring you the week that was for the NSW Swifts…

The NSW Swifts got one back over the Melbourne Vixens by overcoming their old rivals, 54-50, at Hisense Arena last Sunday.

It was no easy feat though with the whole team rising to the challenge of beating the ladder leaders on their turf, however goal shooter Caitlin Thwaites said it best;

“It was hard work out there. I was coming off at each quarter thinking ‘when are they going to give up’ but they just never give up, which is testament to the champion players they are.”

See what some of Caitlin’s teammates and coaches said about the Swifts win in Melbourne:

Swifts fans can re-live the four-goal victory in NSWSwiftsTV’s Top 5 Plays from Round 10.

It was really difficult to narrow it down to just five plays with everyone on court doing their bit for the team, however we couldn’t go past some speccy intercepts from Sharni Layton and Susan Pratley, plus some great transitional play down the court.

This Monday night, 12 May, the NSW Swifts will be looking for their third win on the trot in this year’s ANZ Championship when they face the ever dangerous West Coast Fever at Perth Arena.

“I think they (West Coast Fever) are such an incredibly talented side across the court … it’s going to be an absolutely massive battle,” said Head Coach Rob Wright.
