2013 was the first year that NNSW was involved with SAIL and continuing on in 2014 with the financial support of the Australian Sports Commission under the Multicultural Youth Sports Partnership Program
The Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning (SAIL) Program Inc. is a volunteer, non-profit, secular organisation that provides free English support & community services to the Sudanese refugee community in Melbourne, Sydney & Perth, Australia.
SAIL Xtend provides extra-curricular short courses for school-aged SAIL participants on a rotating basis on Saturday afternoons at the Braybrook, Footscray, Dandenong and Sydney campuses. Netball NSW SAIL Xtend Program encourages the Sydney SAIL community to participate in netball with six one-hour sessions held over consecutive Saturdays from March 8 – April 12.
The physical part of the program provides an opportunity for participants and volunteers to participate at netball through fun games and activities and experience great benefits like getting fit, working as a team, understanding the sport plus much more!
In 2014 Netball NSW is expanding program delivery outside of the physical component of the game and introducing six 90 minute workshops to participants. Workshops are targeted at girls predominately aged between 13 – 18 years discussing topics such as teamwork, identity, goal setting and leadership in a fun, friendly and safe environment. The aim of the workshops are to encourage participants to learn new skills that will assist them both on and off the court! This program could not have been achieved without the financial assistance of Australian Sports Commission under the Multicultural Youth Sports Partnership Program.
