Great Start for Young Aussies in Caribbean

Four NSW athletes are currently undertaking a tour of the Caribbean with the Australian 21/U Team as part of their ongoing preparations for the 2013 World Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow.

2013 NSW Swift Paige Hadley along with her NSW teammates Gabi Simpson, Kimberley Ravaillion and Kristina Brice are part of the 14-strong Aussie team who are contesting six games on the tour against Trinidad & Tobago (Open and 21/U teams) and Jamaica’s 21/U team.

The Aussies have had a fantastic start to the series, winning their first two matches by considerable margins.  In game one against the senior Trinidad & Tobago side, the young Australians defeated the home side by 42 goals in Port of Spain on Saturday night, 59-17.

In their second match they took on Trinidad & Tobago’s 21/U team, posting a dominant 69-goal victory on Sunday night, 77-8.  After leading 16-4 at the first break, the Aussies restricted the home side to just four goals in the final three quarters.

The team played their final match in Port of Spain overnight, and will now make their way to Jamaica to take on their 21/U team for the final three matches of the tour this weekend.

The Aussie players are keeping the netball community updated on their Caribbean adventures and match results by posting blog entries on the Netball Australia website.

The players are writing entries in pairs, with NSW representatives Gabi Simpson and Krissy Brice posting the last entry overnight.  You can read the entire Tour Travel Diary on the Netball Australia website
