2023 Regional League Winners

This was the first year that the Riverina have had two division for Regional League, welcoming new Association teams from Hume League and Narrandera.

In the Div 1 Semi Finals 1 vs 4 saw the two Wagga teams take the court with the Wagga 23’s team strong across all areas of the court and taking their GF place comfortably with a 55 – 14 win.
 Hume League put a courageous fight in a low scoring game where the largest margin of the game only crept out to 3 at half time, with Barellan taking the game by 1 goal in the final minute, giving Barellan another opportunity for the Grandfinal re run of 2021, 2022 against Wagga.

Wagga got off to a fast start leading 10 – 4 at the first break, this was aided by some strong defence from Kate Wallace and Ruby Gillard turning over many feeds into the circle.
Second half saw Barellan come out strong with centre court player Tahlia Quinn feeding the shooters accureatly and forming a strong link in attack and in defence with fellow team mate Jasmine Gilmour.  Wagga forged ahead with some accurate shooting from Ava Moller and Emily McPherson extending their lead 18 – 9 by half time.
There was plenty of ebs and flows from both teams in the second half of the game however Wagga’s strong defence, accurate shooting and swfit court play saw them finish the game strongly winning comfortably 40-22.
Barellan standouts in finals game were Tahlia Quinn, Jasmin Gilmour, and Jenna Richards,
Wagga was well supported by Kate Wallace, Ash Reynoldson and Elysia Smith.

Division 2 
The division two Semi Finals saw Griffith and Leeton progress through their games to line up a local rivally Grandfinal game.
Griffith took control of the game early leading Leeton for the majority of the first half of the game. Some accurate shooting from Jordan Bartholomew and Bessie Taipaleli, and reliable feeding from Sophie Scalora assisted in gaining the lead at the end of the frist half.
Leeton showed fire and determination in the second half of the game with strong defence from Eloise Crelley with many tips and intercepts across the court, along with Brooke Buckley dominating in shooting and rebounding to assit Leeton to close the gap.
As the crowd got more involved in the final minutes of the game the anticipation of a draw was building.
With some strong passages of play and calmness from Griffith saw them hold onto the 2 goal lead to take out the game.
