2023 Far North Coast Regional League Re-Cap

Six teams took part in the Competition, coming from local Associations Ballina, Brunswick Byron, Grafton, Lismore and Lower Clarence.

Day 1 started off with some fantastic netball with a well- matched game against two of the younger teams, Brunswick Byron and Lower Clarence. Brunswick Byron were leading by 5 at half time and managed to hold onto that lead, winning the game 29 to 20. It was exciting watching these two young teams step up and take part in the weekend.

Another great game on Day 1 was the match up between Ballina 1 and Grafton. Grafton led at half time, 13 to 8 and ended up pulling away to take the match 27 to 16. This game left Grafton in 2nd place on the ladder at the end of the day.

The strong Lismore team dominated Day 1 to come away top place on the ladder after being undefeated all day.

Day 2 started with some strong games, including the local match up against the neighbouring Lismore and Ballina 1 teams. These 2 teams always bring everything to the court and this game was nothing less than that. At half time Lismore led 15 to 13 and managed to keep hold of this lead finishing the match on top 36 to 23.

Leading into the Semi Finals we had Lismore in 1st position, Grafton in 2nd, Ballina 1 in 3rd and Ballina 2 in 4th, all fighting for the Grand Final match.

In the end it came down to a re-match of the local rivals, Lismore and Ballina 1.
Ballina 1 came out hard and matched Lismore goal for goal in the first 5 minutes, but the strong on court presence of the Lismore team ended up running away with game, the final score being 32 to 19.

A big thank you to all umpires that attended the weekend, without Team White there is no game! Thank you to Sue Higgins, Head of Allocation, and her Allocation team of Jackie Smalls and Rhee Searle, for all their work leading up to, and during, the weekend. The Team worked hard to keep their small band of umpires fit and ready to go over the two days.

Bring on 2024!
