All in the name of fun at Orange

Last Friday 30 August, Netball NSW went along to assist the St Marys Catholic Primary School Gala Day in Orange where more than 200 students had fun with netball!

Schools from Orange and surrounding regional towns converged at St Marys for the day, with 23 teams participating in a round robin style where it was all about having a go and having FUN with teammates.

Students in Years 3-4 made up 11 teams on the day, while 12 teams were made up of players from Years 5-6, with some having never played netball before!

On hand to help support the Gala Day, Netball NSW Regional Coordinator – West/Central West Mardi Aplin said the atmosphere was full of fun in the sunshine.

“Everyone was having a ball – from the kids playing on court, their teammates cheering from the sidelines and the teachers who came to support; it was great to see so many people down for the day,” Aplin said.

“St Mary’s did a fantastic job coordinating the event.  The day was about enjoying netball and the kids certainly had a great time, so hopefully we see them go home and sign up to their local Club or Association and continue to have fun with netball!”
