Far North jump into State League action

With West/Central West and Hunter regions getting their 2015 competitions underway recently, this weekend will see the first rounds contested of the 2015 Far North Coast Regional State League competition.

Yamba Indoor Courts will host five local teams on Sunday 15 March for the opening day’s play, with defending Champions Grafton starting their 2015 campaign against Brunswick Byron at 9:30am, while nearby rivals Lismore will take on Lower Clarence; Casino have a Bye first up.

The first three rounds will be played this weekend, before the final two rounds plus Finals will be contested on Sunday 26 April at Goonellabah Indoor Courts.

Netball NSW Regional Coordinator Far North Coast Rachelle Finlayson said while the competition may be small in numbers, there’s still plenty of excitement surrounding the contest.

“We’re really excited to get the 2015 Far North Coast Regional State League underway this weekend, and it’s terrific to see our reigning Champions Grafton back to defend their title,” Finlayson said.

“While we’re small in numbers, the excitement around the region has been palpable.  Everyone is keen to get the season underway and to find out who will represent Far North Coast at the 2015 Inter-Regional State League finals in Sydney.”

Each Regional Division 1 Champion will be invited to contest the 2015 Inter-Regional State League competition, will be held at Netball NSW’s brand new, $35 million centre of excellence – Netball Central – from Saturday 26 to Sunday 27 September.

The teams will participate in a round-robin style tournament before contesting Finals to decide who will be crowned the 2015 Inter-Regional Champion.
