The competition is heating up in the 2014 GrainCorp Inter-Regional State League – West/Central West and Northern Inland Competitions!
The 2014 GrainCorp Regional State League – West/Central West Champions will be decided on Sunday 31 August in Orange following Day 2 of competition last Sunday 17 August.
There was some jockeying for position on the ladder on Sunday with the top four advancing to the Semi Finals while teams that sit in fifth, sixth and seventh at the end of the preliminary rounds will play off to determine their final placings.
In Division One, after 12 games Orange 1 and Dubbo both finished with 11 wins and one loss apiece, the losses coming against each other with Dubbo taking honours on Day 1 and Orange 1 coming out on top on Day 2, 24-15, to even the ledger.
Orange 1’s superior goals differential sees them on top of the ladder after the weekend with the two teams to duke it out in the Semi Finals on Sunday 31 August.
Orange 2 is in third place with sevens win and five losses; they defeated Bathurst by just one goal, 22-21, in the penultimate round on Sunday which sets up an exciting Semi Final between the pair , with Bathurst sitting in fourth.
While fifth-placed Forbes challenged for fourth they could not top Bathurst who were victors by two goals in their Day 2 meeting, 25-23, followed by Lithgow who sits in sixth ahead of Mudgee on goals differential.
In the battle between the 17/U teams in Division Two, Bathurst has maintained top spot on the ladder at the end of Day 2 despite a loss to Orange White.
Orange White sit in third on the ladder, just two competition points behind Orange Black, with Cowra in fourth.
One of the matches to watch on Day 2 was the first up match between the top two, Bathurst and Orange Black; only one goal separated the pair, Bathurst victorious 33-32.

With Day 2 of the Northern Inland competition on Sunday 17 August cancelled due to wet weather, the teams turn their attentions to this Sunday when the competition moves to Armidale to play nine rounds with teams aiming to cement their places on the ladder ahead of Finals on Sunday 31 August.
Tamworth leads Moree District on goals differential in Division One, with Narrabri nipping at their heels in third place.
In Division Two Group 14 tops the ladder over Narrabri, split only by goals differential, followed closely by Tamworth and Inverell.
