GrainCorp Regional State League – Northern Inland began on Sunday 21 July, with Day 1 of the competition being contested at Inverell Netball Association.
While the preceding day’s weather forced the cancellation of Association netball in the region, competitors awoke to beautiful sunny skies on the Sunday morning.
This year, 12 teams will compete over four weeks, across two divisions to be crowned the 2013 Champions, and this year there is extra incentive with the winning sides invited to compete in the Inter-Regional State League competition at the Anne Clark Centre at the end of September.
Five teams are contesting Division One, and after the completion of Day 1, it is Glen Innes atop the ladder on 10 points, Armidale on 6, Tamworth on 4, with both Inverell and Moree & District on 2 points apiece.
Division Two, where seven teams are competing, completed a full round of matches on Sunday, with Tamworth atop the ladder with 12 points, from Narrabri on 10 and Group 14 sitting in third on 8 points.
This is a wonderful achievement by Group 14 who is taking part in Division Two for the first time.
Action continues in the GrainCorp Regional State League – Northern Inland competition next Sunday 28 July at Gunnedah Netball Association.
